About National WAMG

WAMG was founded at the Australian National University in 2025 with a simple vision: to create the supportive mentoring network we wished we'd had from our very first day of law school.  

We know that advocacy can be daunting. Whether it's entering your first moot, applying for competitions, speaking up in class, or simply finding your place at law school, having people in your corner can make all the difference. That's why WAMG exists—to support and champion female and gender-diverse law students through mentoring, practical skills development, and a community that celebrates one another's success.  

What began as a student-led initiative at ANU has already grown into a national organisation. Since our national launch in Sydney earlier this year, WAMG has expanded to six university chapters across Australia, with interest from many more. Along the way, we've had the privilege of connecting students with judges, barristers, solicitors and experienced advocates, and sharing our vision with law students from across the country.  To us, advocacy is about so much more than competitions or the Bar. It's about finding your voice, building confidence, supporting others, and opening doors to opportunities you may never have thought possible.  

This website is where we'll share updates from across our chapters, highlight the incredible achievements of our members, celebrate the legal professionals who generously support our mission, and continue building a community where the next generation of advocates can thrive.
